Group therapy?
Yes.
Occasionally, I have the honor of running a group, usually a BIPOC DBT Skills Group, which rotates between three modules - Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance.
What I love about Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is its commitment to the belief that anyone (including YOU) can build up a strong sense of self and security, even if it wasn’t all taught explicitly or implicitly during childhood. Meaning, even if your parents never modeled what it meant to process anger healthily, or how to manage moments of high stress, or maintain various kinds of relationships, it’s not too late to learn.
